Over the years PETS has continued this tradition of serving the local veterinary community by providing high quality emergency care and has evolved to support specialty services including Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Emergency, and Hospice and Palliative Care. We are available 24hrs/day, 365 days a year including all holidays and no appointment is necessary for emergency care, though we do ask that you call in advance if possible.
We work closely with your veterinarian with the shared goal of providing you and your pet with the best possible care. We also feel the most important ingredient in providing quality medical care is the people, and we are very proud of our team of skilled and compassionate doctors, nurses, and client service staff. Dr. Kane was born and raised in Oakland, CA. He received his BS in Physiology from CU Boulder in 2008, and DVM with Honors from Colorado State University in 2013. Following graduation, he returned home to Oakland to serve the local community and has been here since. The majority of his career has taken place in emergency rooms, starting as a receptionist in 2008. During veterinary school he pursued research in avian medicine, later spending the first several years in practice as an avian veterinarian. Since then he has been focused on critical care and considers the ER a home away from home.

Professional interests include medical ethics, communication, and optimizing the human-animal bond - all of which are unique for each patient and family.
Outside of work he enjoys gardening, cooking, art, exercising and live music.
