PETS was originally founded many years ago by a group of local general practice veterinarians to reduce the burden of after hours emergency calls and improve the quality of this care.
Over the years PETS has continued this tradition of serving the local veterinary community by providing high quality emergency care and has evolved to support specialty services including Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, Emergency, and Hospice and Palliative Care. We are available 24hrs/day, 365 days a year including all holidays and no appointment is necessary for emergency care, though we do ask that you call in advance if possible.
We work closely with your veterinarian with the shared goal of providing you and your pet with the best possible care. We also feel the most important ingredient in providing quality medical care is the people, and we are very proud of our team of skilled and compassionate doctors, nurses, and client service staff. When your pet is under our care, you can rest assured that she or he is in good hands.

Thomas Michal, Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Thomas Michal was born in central North Carolina and grew up around Jacksonville, Florida. He graduated from North Carolina State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 with a focus on pathology, but clinical practice was calling him. After graduation, he pursued an emergency and surgery-focused internship at Encina Veterinary Hospital in Walnut Creek. Since completing his internship, he has been working as an emergency clinician at PETS. In his spare time Dr. Michal enjoys biking around the East Bay and spending time with his pit bull-mix Hank and cat Alan.
